Afterword of Ah Bee’s tragic demise

18/01/2022 by Dr Donna Chow 1 Comment

After Ah Bee’s story was posted on social media, I received an overwhelming response in the form of public comments, private email messages and well-wishes from friends and strangers alike. Many of them shared with me their unfortunate encounters with vets across the island. Due to a lack of time, I apologize I am not … [Read more…]

Tragic End for Ah Bee after Mount Pleasant gave wrong drug

12/01/2022 by Dr Donna Chow 6 Comments

I am writing this post with great pain and heartache. For those who personally know me, you will be aware how much Ah Bee, my miniature schnauzer, means to me. He came into our lives 12 years ago, and I have always regarded him as my first child. We have enjoyed and celebrated many milestones … [Read more…]

24/09/2021 by Dr Donna Chow Leave a Comment

I started my aesthetics clinic at the height of the Covid pandemic in 2020. It was something which nobody would have predicted and one which all of us are ill prepared for. We dipped our toes into the business world, only to discover that we are at the wrong end of the pool and at … [Read more…]

Our masked up days

16/09/2021 by Dr Donna Chow Leave a Comment

It has been a long time since I have updated this blog. Suffice to say, the past year has not been an easy one for a lot of us. The pandemic has created a lack of predictability in our lives. The fear of the unknown is probably greater than the inconveniences of being masked up. … [Read more…]

Mindon on his second birthday

I haven’t posted for a while. Not since Ah Bee’s 10th birthday celebration – on which we ordered a custom birthday cake for him. For the past 4 weeks, there seems to be a renewed interest in home baking as a lot of us (myself included) have more free time on our hands. Therefore, I … [Read more…]

Ah Bee turns ten

10 golden years

In the blink of an eye, Ah Bee is now officially 10 years old. If you have owned a dog, you would probably know that one year of a dog’s life is almost equivalent to 7 years of human’s life. That would mean that our dear Bee, whom we have raised since he was a … [Read more…]

Happy First Birthday, Mindon!

It took me a while to post an update. For the past few months, I have been busy decluttering the house, caring for the little ones and coping with a job change. Glad that I have finally found some time to post an event which happened quite some time back – Mindon’s first birthday celebration! … [Read more…]

Our trip to Bali Safari Park

At the balcony of our hut

Before having kids, I have never thought about searching for farm stay or visiting the zoo. Life has become less of a “me-only-complex” since the arrival of children. Nowadays, our holiday destinations are more geared towards family friendly resorts and places which are able to accommodate children and their needs. And we found out about … [Read more…]

The completed chicken cake

I have been very busy for the past few months; hence the lack of update on this blog. My little boy is coming to 40 weeks old. In a matter of 12 weeks, he would be celebrating his first birthday! Therefore, I have been trying to bake a new cake just for him.  I have … [Read more…]

Lactation cookies recipe

27/04/2018 by Dr Donna Chow Leave a Comment
My cookie monster waited to chomp down the cookies

It is common for breastfeeding mums to eat lactation cookies to boost their milk supply. These cookies are often available for sale by other home bakers who made them for a profit or mass produced and commercially packaged such as this. I am never a cookie fan myself. But hearing all the positive reviews for … [Read more…]

We attended his graduation ceremony, watch him collect his scroll on stage and perform with the rest of his classmates. 铭哲长大了!
We had a short getaway at Koh Samui during the school holidays. In this video, we did go-karting, went on dolphin cruise, sea snorkeling, fed the elephants and had roof riding for the first time.
We ventured to the Bhutan - Land of Happiness - to seek answers to a good life. In this video, we visited notable monasteries in Bhutan, sampled local cuisine, did fruit picking, took part in white water rafting at the rapids, trekked to Tiger's Nest Monastery and enjoyed a hot stone bath.
I will give you a tour of my backyard and the edibles I grow in my garden.

This includes a papaya tree planted in a pot, watermelon plant with baby fruits, my crop of cabbage, my lime plant, chilli padi plants, cherry tomato plants, popular herbs such as rosemary, sweet basil and mint.

Not to forget my hardy sweet potato leaves which I harvest weekly to cook sambal chilli with.

Maintaining an edible garden can be both hard work and fun.
