Lactation cookies recipe

27/04/2018 by Dr Donna Chow Leave a Comment
My cookie monster waited to chomp down the cookies

It is common for breastfeeding mums to eat lactation cookies to boost their milk supply. These cookies are often available for sale by other home bakers who made them for a profit or mass produced and commercially packaged such as this. I am never a cookie fan myself. But hearing all the positive reviews for … [Read more…]

Sitting (L-R): Heidi, Shirley, Donna. Standing (L-R): Weijia, Elssa

When I first talked about producing a short animation show for The Three Muttsketeers to a friend, she thought I was joking. I thought I should do something to create publicity for my book, and Youtube is one good platform to create awareness as young kids are attracted to moving visuals more than anything else. “Who still read books … [Read more…]

The completed project

Needle felting is a new craft I have started to explore in my free time when I am not working as a maid or keeping my little boy entertained and occupied. It is a very simple hobby that doesn’t demand too much of my time, and the end product is quite adorable. What’s more – … [Read more…]

Looking like new

It is a misnomer that stainless steel should be called “stainless”. Anyone who has used stainless steel pots and pans would know that after repeated use, you will get rainbow stains on the bottom. Green tea rosette sponge cake

I am so excited to share this simple recipe with you. The sponge cake is easy – I manage to succeed on the first attempt. However the buttercream frosting is more tricky. It took me 3 attempts to get the right consistency. There are many icing recipes around and I tried a few, so far … [Read more…]

I will give you a tour of my backyard and the edibles I grow in my garden.

This includes a papaya tree planted in a pot, watermelon plant with baby fruits, my crop of cabbage, my lime plant, chilli padi plants, cherry tomato plants, popular herbs such as rosemary, sweet basil and mint.

Not to forget my hardy sweet potato leaves which I harvest weekly to cook sambal chilli with.

Maintaining an edible garden can be both hard work and fun.
My clarinet version of our NDP song by Kit Chan. Finally reunited with my clarinet after being apart for nearly a quarter of a century.
Pardon me for my rusty skills. Decided to pick it up again during the circuit breaker period.

Attached with the full lyrics:

Home - Kit Chan
Whenever I am feeling low
I look around me and I know
There's a place that will stay within me
Wherever I may choose to go
I will always recall the city
Know every street and shore
Sail down the river which brings us life
Winding through my Singapore
This is home truly, where I know I must be
Where my dreams wait for me, where the river always flows
This is home surely, as my senses tell me
This is where I won't be alone, for this is where I know it's home
When there are troubles to go through
We'll find a way to start anew
There is comfort in the knowledge
That home's about its people too
So we'll build our dreams together
Just like we've done before
Just like the river which brings us life
There'll always be Singapore
This is home truly, where I know I must be
Where my dreams wait for me, where the river always flows
This is home surely, as my senses tell me
This is where I won't be alone, for this is where I know it's home
This is home truly, where I know I must be
Where my dreams wait for me, where the river always flows
This is home surely, as my senses tell me
This is where I won't be alone, for this is where I know it's home
For this is where I know it's home
For this is where I know I'm home
